New Chair for Irish Community Care Merseyside

Updated: Mar 11, 2023

Emma Carruthers is currently the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager for the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation and founder of CluedIn Training Consultancy.

Emma has over 20 years’ experience in the voluntary and public sectors, leading award-winning mental health and well-being, learning and development and equality, diversity, and inclusion programmes.

Prior to taking up the Chair role, Emma was Vice-Chair of the Trustee Board. Emma sits on the Personnel Committee and is Trustee lead for accelerating equality, diversity, and inclusion.

When at University in Liverpool, Emma witnessed first-hand so many friends and fellow students leaving their courses and returning home to Ireland, as they really struggled with student life away from home. If they had known about Irish Community Care and just how they can support students and young people, Emma firmly believes that those students could have received tailored and practical support to improve their well-being and complete their degrees.

Emma is proud to be Chair ICC, an organisation that supports people right across the life course and delighted to be working collaboratively with Fréa.
